This is an Abhiyaan – a long haul campaign, hence the name. The number of those in need is mind boggling. A few souls we touch, overwhelms us. It can be equally gratifying for you as well.

Come, Join… Extend help…!

A suitable wheelchair can improve the user’s health in many ways

  • An appropriate wheelchair with an appropriate cushion can reduce many problems, such as PRESSURE SORES or POOR POSTURES.

  • Users can become more independent in their daily routine/living activities and they could control their own life without other’s help.

  • They feel self esteemed when they have a wheelchair with the knowledge of using it well and ultimately help them reduce their dependency upon others.

  • With a suitable wheelchair, users could be more involved in community life and could become an active and productive member of our society.

  • Thus, we request you all to contribute by all means you have and help us to make this mission successful.

The objective is to help people with spinal problems lead  as normal a life, as medically permissible and as physically possible under their unique circumstances.

Stretch the boundaries… as they say.

MORE ABOUT US

Saksham Ek Abhiyaan is a NGO, set up by like-minded persons, some with disabilities  and some others  normal healthy people, all driven by a passion for helping those whom God has chosen to live with serious disabilities and yet be useful to  one’s own self, their families and the society they live in.

Experience shows that hindrance in achieving this is not necessarily a physical limitation, but lack of empowerment and awareness. Information deficit about small living aids or some training to learn new ways of managing daily chores, learning to sit for long hours, shifting to and from say, bed to wheelchair or car & vice-versa, using necessary aids well, and taking care of common ailments and pains, learning how not to catch frequent infections, avoid pressure sores and to learn active & passive exercises to keep muscle, joints supple, bones strong and most of all, to shed inhibitions or fears in moving out.

Once again, become a useful and contributing member of the society he/she lives in.We realize that the first few weeks after being afflicted with a permanent disability due to an accident or a debilitating disease, leaves a mind cluttered with umpteen financial, professional, social,  health & medical issues & worries, and  generally, is the most difficult period of his/her life. There are doubts, inhibitions and fears galore, with very few people to look up to, for support and advice.

This is where we, at SAKSHAM, like to step in by extending a helping hand, offer counsel and comfort. We also like to arrange/gift living aids like wheelchair, anti-pressure sore seating cushion/mattress, other living aids, and medicines or arrange for appropriate medical care to the extent possible. Ultimately, equipping them to become employable or self employed.
